TechFest is committed to protecting the rights and privacy of individuals, especially children. 

TechFest will take all reasonable precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal data.

TechFest has taken reasonable steps to minimise the amount of personal data that it needs to collect.

What information do we collect about you?

1.  We collect contact information from you when you register to join our mailing list.

2.  We collect information when you voluntarily provide this information when giving TechFest feedback.

3.  We collect information about individuals who attend certain TechFest events or participate in competitions.

4.  Website usage information is collected using cookies. This information is used to track visitor use of the website and to compile statistical reports on website activity. TechFest does not intend to use them to gather personal information. For further information see www.aboutcookies.org.

How will we use the information about you?

1.  If you request to be added to our mailing list, by whichever means you choose, we will use your information for marketing purposes e.g sending you the TechFest Festival programme, other events which may be of interest to you. TechFest will never share it’s mailing list with a third party organisation.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with the subject line “remove from mailing list” or contact us by postal mail at TechFest, Butchart Centre, University Road, Aberdeen AB24 3UT making it clear that you wish to “remove your details from our mailing list”, you may opt out at any point in the future.

2.  If you have voluntarily provided us with any personal information we will keep it for only as long as is reasonable, as soon as is practical TechFest staff controllers will process it in a way that the information becomes anonymised and is then stored in that format. The original information will be disposed of securely.

TechFest forms will include an opt-in box giving consent for the information to be processed in this way.

3.  Individuals will be asked to sign consent forms (or to have them signed by an adult holding “parental responsibility”). Many of TechFest’s events are sponsored, so some of the information given may be shared with third party organisations, unless individual consent has been refused. The information will be shared in a way that individuals could reasonably expect.

Access to your information and correction

You have the right to request a copy of information that we hold about you, you have the right or to ask us to correct or remove information that you think is inaccurate.
