The SPE offers a website www.energy4me.org which has information about a range of energy sources, including alternatives, and advice about efficient use of energy. There are also lesson plans relating to the oil industry available to download, classroom activities to order and careers advice.
The Scottish Government has established a website (www.infoscotland.com/science) which includes descriptions of experiments, quizzes and games, as well as lots of career-related information.
Free debate kits are available at http://imascientist.org.uk - these consist of 1 teacher instruction sheet and 8 character cards on topics such as 'IVF' and 'Are we too clean?'
The website of Learning and Teaching Scotland (LTS) has resources for primary and secondary school teachers, to fit in with the Curriculum for Excellence - www.ltscotland.org.uk/curriculumforexcellence/index.asp. A new resource is the 'Ashfield Music Festival' - it contains all you need for a one-day workshop for S4 pupils to organise a music festival, taking on the roles of electrical engineer, sound engineer, etc.
Chemistry
The Royal Society of Chemistry (www.rsc.org/) has resources for school students and teachers via the link 'Educational and Professional Development'. Biology
