Staff STEM Ambassadors
Why should your organisation get involved with STEM education?
The input of employers into education is becoming increasingly critical in educating students and teachers about the relevance of STEM to their everyday lives and the career opportunities that are available, as well as helping to sustain the UK’s future economy.
By volunteering to become a STEM Ambassador, your employees are given a brilliant opportunity to motivate pupils whilst also further developing their professional and personal skills.
Ambassadors are volunteers who challenge the stereotypes most young learners have regarding STEM subjects, motivate them to learn more, and expand students’ knowledge on the types of STEM careers available to them. Ambassadors can become involved in various projects such as delivering career talks, acting as a mentor to students, or assisting with a science and engineering club.
Benefits to employers include:
- Career development of staff
- Increased profile in the community
- Raised interest among future generations as potential employees in the sector
- A better understanding of the education system
- Fresh ideas and views through the original thinking of young people
