PRESS RELEASE - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TechFest-SetPoint's 'Maths in the Pipeline' is returning to Inverness on Friday 11th February for their fourth annual challenge. Young mathematicians, from nine local secondary schools will be getting a rare glimpse into the Oil and Gas industry. The aim of the programme is to allow pupils to interact with experts and put into practice their mathematical knowledge in line with the Curriculum for Excellence.
During the day the industry professionals will be challenging the pupils to solve a series of problems experienced world-wide in the oil and gas industry, seeing for themselves the importance of Maths.
"We are delighted to be returning to Inverness, courtesy of Professor Angus Jamieson. Inverness pupils bring enthusiasm and we always enjoy seeing their hard work and team spirit. The presentations at the end of the day are of an incredible high standard"
Sarah Chew, Operations Director, TechFest-SetPoint
'Maths In The Pipeline' is a popular day with teachers and pupils providing a valuable opportunity to put into context what they learn in the classroom. The day culminates in a business challenge where the teams of pupils compete to present the best field development plan to a panel of industry professionals.
"Mathematics is integral to a wide variety of careers, and this event gives the young people an opportunity to see how the maths they learn in the classroom can be applied in industry. I am delighted to help make this happen".
