CHEMISTRY WORKS!

June 9th to June 12th saw over 500 S3 pupils from Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Moray and Tayside attend Chemistry at Work at the University of Aberdeen. 

Organised by TechFest-SetPoint, sponsored by the Royal Society of Chemistry and hosted by the University of Aberdeen, Chemistry at Work presented to pupils some of the principles of chemistry as they are applied in industry, research and everyday life.

The event aimed to encourage S3 chemistry pupils to consider a career in chemistry by allowing groups of pupils to spend time viewing and participating  in exciting and informative presentations from  local organisations and companies who use chemistry as part of thier everyday work.

This year saw the pupils recieving presentations from Alchemy Oilfield Services, Briggs Environmental Services Ltd, Clariant Oil Services Ltd, Grampian Fire & Rescue Service, Macphie of Glenbervie, MI-SWACO, Robert Gordon University School of Life Sciences, Scottish Police Services Authority Forensics Services, and the University of Aberdeen Chemistry Department.
