PUPILS EXPLORE OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY
14 Teams of S6 pupils, from across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire are today embarking on a 3-month oil and gas industry project run by TechFest-SetPoint.
STEM In The Pipeline is a 3-part project that enables pupils to use their knowledge of physics, maths, chemistry and geology and see how they are used in industry.
The project starts with the Introduction Day, at the University of Aberdeen where 88 pupils and 14 teachers will take an active part in 4 workshops on Geology, Drilling & Reservoir Engineering, Finance and Processing, all led by industry professionals. At the end of the day the teams are given their project.
Back at school, and with the support of mentors, the teams complete a field development plan for the STEM field.
The teenagers will regroup in December at BP to display, present and discuss their results
