Local pupils will today (Saturday 27th February) complete a prestigious series of Royal Institution Mathematic Masterclasses and receive certificates from sponsors Chevron at the University of Aberdeen.  Organised by TechFest-SetPoint, these Saturday morning sessions comprise of enthusiastic professionals from industry and academia presenting interactive workshops on all aspects of mathematics for keen S2 pupils.

An audience of over 100 pupils, parents and teachers will attend the final lecture "You Want to Bet?" at the MacRobert Building by local maths teacher Mr Simon Fogiel.  The interactive session will focus on how mathematical probability links with games of chance.  The 8 sessions have covered a range of topics from ancient codes and travellers to car collisions and the golden ratio of body proportions.

Yashka Manning, STEM Co-ordinator at TechFest-SetPoint said "Throughout the series pupils have attended workshops at both of Aberdeen's Universities and got a real flavour of how mathematics can be applied in everyday situations."
