Full STEM Ahead!

 20TH August 2009

89 Talented S6 pupils with a flair for science and a gift for maths are today embarking on a three month project 'STEM In The Pipeline' from the charitable organisation TechFest-SetPoint. Young professionals from the oil and gas industry will visit the University of Aberdeen and lead the pupils through a day of practical workshops looking at geology, drilling, reservoirs, processing and finance.

Ahead of them the school students project will uncover many diverse problems to which they can offer fresh solutions. Along the way support for the students is available from the young professionals of BP, Chevron and ConocoPhillips.

In December the pupils will display their proposed Field Development Plans at a final assessment day attended by Aberdeen's oil and gas community.
