STEM Club Pilot Project Celebration Event Was Huge Success

Three events were held to celebrate the work P7 and S1 pupils have carried out in STEM Clubs, set-up by TechFest-SetPoint and funded by the Scottish Government through the Office of the Chief Scientific Advisor.

These events involved over 150 pupils in total and were aiming to congraluate the pupils on their hard work and inspire them to continue with their interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

The first event took place at Glenalmond College in Perth, with pupils and teachers from Breadalbane Academy and Perth Academy taking part in outdoor orienteering, 'Maths Around the World', as well as showing their work to the other pupils.

The second event took place at Dundee Botanic Gardens, where pupils from Arbroath High School and Grove Academy took part in a Darwin themed trail around the garden, followed by each school presenting their work.

The final event, at Aberdeen Beach Ballroom, involved pupils from Bridge of Don Academy, Hazlehead Academy, Northfield Academy, Mintlaw Academy and Woodside Primary. Ken Skeldon performed his popular, 'Arcs and Sparks' Show, followed by 'Maths around the World' provided by TechFest-SetPoint and the children having the chance to present their work.

Also, not present at the events, but very much invoved with the STEM Club Project, are Crieff High School, Craigie High School, Torry Academy and St Peters Primary.

Well done to the pupils and the teachers for all the hard work that has been put into the STEM Clubs so far!
