Young Engineers (K'Nex)
Young Engineers (K’Nex Challenge) aims to provide primary school pupils (P4-P6) with an exciting introduction to the world of Engineering and Technology by inviting them to produce a specific design solution for a problem and then build it using K’Nex.
This annual challenge, which takes place between Christmas and Easter, is open to pupils from P4 - P6 working in pairs. The challenge is held in their own school for children of all abilities. These teams of two have the opportunity to demonstrate their imagination, creativity and ingenuity by designing and making a model using the K’Nex kit provided for them.
Present at the challenge is a volunteer ‘expert’ engineer (a Science & Engineering Ambassador) who gives advice and guidance throughout and who also chooses a ‘winning model’ to go forward to a regional and possibly a national final.
