In addition to the competition there will be a whole host of fun and exciting activities throughout the day. Competitors, visiting schools and teachers alike will have the opportunity to get involved in a range of STEM related experiences from helping to build a tetrahedron and testing reaction times to discovering the career opportunities which exist within the industry.
The feature show, 'Bending it Like Beckham' presented by Science Shows for Schools promises to be a popular choice on the day; exploring and examining the science behind the most famous left foot in the game of football.
Places for the show are limited so book early to avoid disappointment. For more information on the show please go to www.scienceshowsforschools.com
Teachers will have a place for networking in the Teachers' Resources Area which will have STEM information in the form of leaflets and industry representatives.
The Scottish Big Bang Fair aims:
- To celebrate students' achievements and excellence through the competition and to identify eligible students (individuals, teams and clubs) to represent the region at the National Big Bang 2011;
- To educate and inspire young people not yet engaged with STEM;
- To engage widely with schools, STEM providers, regional businesses, institutions and industry to highlight the many STEM opportunities that are available;
- To act as a platform for regional STEM initiatives.
The project application deadline has now passed however late entries will be considered, based on their merits.
