TechFest-SetPoint, organisers of TechFest In September, the annual festival of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics are seeking to secure funding and support, for its events and activities which will enable us to continue to inspire future generations of Scientists, Technologists, Engineers and Mathematicians.

Many inspirational scientists, engineers and inventors of our time often cite a single incident, event or challenge from childhood as being fundamental in inspiring their career choices as well as their life long quest for knowledge. This event may be a chance encounter, a visit to a science festival, taking part in an interschool competition or researching a school project and it is these initial steps we at TechFest-SetPoint hope to provide, to create that vital spark of interest.

Through our extensive portfolio of activities we provide opportunities for children and young people to try something new, to gain confidence in their own abilities and show them the range of options the studying of STEM subjects could afford them. Further details of all our activities are included in this pack.

However all these opportunities and experiences can only be created with your help. As a charity everything we do is dependant on fundraising. We are reliant on finding the vital sponsors with the shared vision of putting something back into the local community, those who wish to promote the studying of the STEM subjects, and ultimately secure a future for their own businesses by creating potential future skilled employees.

Involvement in Sponsorship

Each year we seek to raise enough money to finance all our events, plus staffing and development cost. This enclosed diary of events outlines our activity – it is not a definitive list as new opportunities and projects arise each year but it is a sound starting point for 2008.

Opportunities for Sponsorship

• Core funding is sought to help meet operational costs
• Event sponsorship allows a company to contribute funding to pre-specified event, workshop or presentation
• Funding may be confirmed for a two or three period allowing the event and sponsor time to develop a mutually advantageous partnership.

How You Gain

Sponsorship gives you an excellent opportunity to invest in the future of the local community, sharing your name and brand image with an array of complimentary events and activities which directly benefit hundreds of young people throughout the area. By Supporting TechFest-SetPoint activities you are not only perpetuating an interest for young people in STEM but are also supporting long term future recruitment for your own industry sector.

In addition, opportunities are also available for your individual staff members to get involved with our Science and Engineering Ambassadors Volunteer Programme at events, workshops and presentation sponsored by your company.
Individuals gain interpersonal communication, planning and presentation skills, all of which add to their Continuing Professional Development.
(Please note, if you would like your staff to be involved in this option they must be completely cleared through the SEAs recruitment procedures six weeks in advance of any event they may plan to attend.)
